Workbone is a text-based utility that plays audio cd's. For it to
function, your computer will need a sound card that is configured in the
kernel or as a module (review compiling kernel tutorial). If you don't
know whether or not your sound card is properly configured in the
original install of Monkey then place your favorite cd in the CD-ROM
drive and try running Workbone. You're also going to need to know which
device name is associated with your CD-ROM (review CD-ROM tutorial).
Follow these steps to see if it works:

     1. Link /dev/cdrom to the correct device. If you have an IDE/ATAPI
CD-ROM like I do, then you'd do something similar to this:

cd /dev CHANGE TO /dev DIRECTORY
ls -l cdrom LIST WHICH DEVICE cdrom IS LINKED TO
rm cdrom DELETE INCORRECT cdrom LINK
ln -s hdc cdrom CREATE NEW cdrom LINK

     2. Change ownership of the CD-ROM, so users (other than root) can
use Workbone, with the following command:

          chmod 666 /dev/cdrom

     3. Place an audio cd in the CD-ROM tray and start Workbone.

          workbone

If you correctly completed step 1 then Workbone will initialize
itself and a text console will appear on the screen. The control

'Num Lock' key must be activated for the controls to work. Here's a
